FALL MAPLE LEAVES
Aspen Colorado, USA
THE STORY. . .
“Turn around! You’re missing the best part!”
Like it or not, this little phrase echoes loud and clear throughout the landscape photography community. Much like a werwolf sneaking up on an unsuspecting college girl during a bad horror movie, the climax is often directly behind us. We have our sites set on something we think is going to be great, only to turn around and find an epic sunrise lighting up the sky in the opposite direction. This was definitely the case in the Ice Lake Basin. I’m pretty sure I turned my head to swat a pesky mosquito when I caught a glimpse of this beauty booting up to full color. With a quick 180 spin, the scene was set. Sunbeams radiate across the basin as first light spills over the horizon. Absolutely awesome! So, am I thankful for mosquitoes? No, they still suck.
