THE STORY. . . This image is brought to you by the color blue. In fact, this is where the color blue was invented! Welcome to Ice Lake. . . this mysterious sapphire pool is situated in the Rocky Mountains, where it is surrounded by a saw tooth ridge of craggy red peaks. The water is said to contain high levels of lithium, which is where it gets its striking blue color. On calm days, the reflection is perfect. It almost feels like the mountain captured a piece of the sky, holding it permanently within the earth.
