THE STORY. . . Yea, I’m just going to say it: this image is a contender for world’s cutest photograph (please resist the temptation to reach into your computer screen and squeeze those chubby little cheeks). This family of chipmunks lives on a mountain top in Telluride, Colorado. They spend their days scurrying about, snacking on seeds and yes, being completely adorable. This image was captured on a fine sunny day, just as the clan had discovered a fresh patch of sage grass going to seed. The picnic buffet went on with vigorous enthusiasm until a nearby hawk made her appearance. With the flick of their furry tails, the family was gone in a cloud of dust.
