Wanted: Young person with titanium spine and triathlete endurance to carry my camera bag into remote wilderness destinations. Must be able to withstand freezing cold, and be willing to act as decoy in case of bear attack. Apply below.
Destination: Crestone Needle, via South Colony Lakes. To call the hike grueling would be an understatement. The rocky trail is unforgiving and popup thunderstorms roar down the mountains, spitting rain and lightning with little notice. But then, the view at the top. . . oh baby. Think back to the Wizard of Oz, and the look on Dorothy’s face when she finally reached the Emerald City. There’s no place like Colorado. .
