SUNRISE AT ICE LAKE
Colorado, USA
Tent. 4am. Alarm. Dress. Zip. Outside. Fu@$%&K that’s cold! Camera. Backpack. Headlamp. Hike. One mile up the basin trail. Looking back down across the valley, the dome light in the tent glows quietly, a tiny spec in the distance. A faint glow emanates across the horizon. Go time. On to the lake. All is calm. Shoreline. Tripod. Camera. Sunrise. A brilliant arc of orange light burns across the clouds and dips into the glassy reflection. The sawtooth mountain range takes on a crimson glow as the crystal blue waters of the lake glow like sapphire. The scene is an impossible culmination of otherworldly phenomenon. It’s hard to believe what is actually happening. Words are simply not enough. . .
